Terms
Last updated: August 6, 2026
GameJar is six games in a browser. Using it means you accept the terms below. If you do not, don't use it.
1. What GameJar is
A website you can install to a home screen, holding six games: Mini Crossword, Guess the Word, Connect Four, Dots & Boxes, 2048 and Mini Sudoku. The games run on your device and keep working with no connection. We may add games, change them, or retire one, and we may change or stop the service; if we retire something you were playing we will say so on the site rather than have it quietly vanish.
2. It is free
There is nothing to buy, no subscription and no in-app purchase. The six games listed above stay free. If a paid shelf is added later it will be new games, and it will be obvious which ones those are - see pricing.
3. Players and accounts
Playing needs no account. The player profiles you create are stored on your device and are not accounts - they are names and colours.
The one account GameJar has is a parent's, and it exists only to sync a household's profiles and scores between devices. You must be an adult to create one. The sign-up page does not check that and has no way to, so it is on you. Keep the password to yourself, tell us if someone else gets into the account, and give us an email address that is really yours so we can reach you about it. We may suspend or close an account that is used to attack the service or to break these terms.
You can delete yours whenever you like: "Delete account" on your account page removes the account, its household, and every profile and result synced to it, for good. Asking us by email does the same thing.
4. Fair use
Don't:
- break the law with it, or use it to harm someone;
- try to reach another household's data, or anyone's account;
- attack, overload or scrape the service, or work around its rate limits;
- resell it, or pass it off as your own;
- put someone else's personal information into a profile name - it is a nickname field, not a place for anyone's details.
5. Your family's data
Profiles and scores are yours. We do not publish them, sell them or show them to anyone outside your household. There is no upload of any kind in GameJar - no photos, no files, no messages to other players - so there is nothing here for us to moderate and nothing for a stranger to send your kids. What we hold and for how long is set out on the privacy page.
6. Our part
The GameJar name, its design, its puzzles and its code are ours. Play the games as much as you like; don't copy the app and ship it as your own.
7. No warranty, and the limit of what we owe you
GameJar is provided as is. We do not promise it is free of bugs, that every puzzle is perfect, or that the service is always up. Because the games and the scores live on your device, a browser that clears its storage clears them too - if a scoreboard matters to you, sign in and sync it.
To the extent the law allows, GameJar is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Since GameJar is free, no money has changed hands to refund.
8. Changes, law, and reaching us
If these terms change we will update the date at the top of this page, and continuing to use GameJar means you accept the new version. These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which GameJar operates, and disputes go to the courts there. If a clause turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Questions go to support@gamejar.app or through the contact form.
