How to play
Five Dice
Roll five dice, keep the good ones, fill the card. One to four players.
Rules
On your turn roll five dice up to three times, tapping any dice you want to keep between rolls. Then pick one of the 13 boxes on your scorecard to fill with what you rolled. Once a box is filled it is done, so a bad roll costs you a box. Fill all 13 and the highest total wins. Play alone for a personal best, or pass the device between up to four people.
One to 4 people play on this device. Everyone has a scorecard with 13 boxes, and every turn fills exactly one of them, so a game is 13 turns each. The highest total wins, and a tie for the top is a draw.
- Roll the five dice. You get up to 3 rolls a turn, and the first one is required.
- After a roll, tap any dice to hold them. Held dice keep their number when you roll again; the rest are rolled. Tap a held die to let it go.
- Stop whenever you like, or after the last roll, and tap a box to fill it with the dice as they stand. That ends your turn. Each box shows what it would score right now.
- You can fill a box that scores nothing. It counts as 0 and that box is used up, so a bad roll always costs you something.
The upper boxes are Ones to Sixes: you score the dice that show that number, added up. Three Fours is 12. Score 63 or more across the six, which is three of each, and you earn a bonus of 35.
The lower boxes:
- Three of a Kind and Four of a Kind: at least three or four dice the same, and you score all five dice added up.
- Full House: three of one number and two of another is 25. Five of the same number is not a Full House: it belongs in Five Dice.
- Small Straight: four in a row, like 2-3-4-5, is 30. A spare die can be anything.
- Large Straight: five in a row, 1-2-3-4-5 or 2-3-4-5-6, is 40.
- Five Dice: all five the same is 50.
- Chance: anything at all, and you score the dice added up. It is the place for a roll that fits nowhere else.
There are no other bonuses. A second Five Dice is just another roll, and the dice never count as a wild card.
Controls
Touch: tap anything on the board to use it. Every button and key is at least 44px tall, so it works with a thumb. The squares of a board are as big as the screen allows - on a small phone some of them are smaller than that, which is why the keys and the number pad, not the squares, are what you type with.
Keyboard: Tab moves between the controls and Enter or Space activates the one you are on. That covers the buttons the game screen always has - Pause, Restart and this page's link - as well as anything the board adds.
Pause stops the clock and freezes the board; Restart gives you a fresh one. Everyone uses the same device, taking turns - whose turn it is is always named on screen.
Scoring
Your score is the points you have when the game ends. Higher is better.
Play as often as you like. Every game is saved on this device, and your best turns up on the scoreboard.
